NetComm, Intertek Italy and Chinova host sold out China eCommerce Workshop seminar, Milano 17 May

Summary of the pre-event workshop – Successfully selling in the most promising and booming country in the world - China!

eCommerce in Italy is booming. With only one invitation, NetComm, the Italian eCommerce trade association and organizer, filled the special China pre-event workshop the evening before the main event on the 18 of May. The workshop was limited to around 50 people and only one representative per merchant was accepted, still there was only room for 65% of the merchants signing up.

At the 6th annual Italian eCommerce trade show on the 18 May in Milano, Mr. Julio Finzi, General Secretary of NetComm, moderates a panel discussion. The event has been growing each year and now had 2.400 visitors and four concurrent seminar tracks in addition to the exhibition.

The seminar was geared towards Italian eMerchants interested in increasing sales to Chinese consumers. It was a well-received seminar with very experienced and professional participants from the companies Alberto Guardiani, Arredatutto, Ausilium, Barilla Fratelli, Boscolo Hotels, Castaldi Illuminazione, Contactlab, Diego Dalla Palma, Fashion Air, Forzieri, Gemmyxit, Interactive Advertising Bureau, Intarget, KIKO cosmetics, Marcolin , Miniconf , Moda e Tecnologia, Moleskine, Oikyweb, Palazzo Grassi, Pedrera spa, Postemobile, Prada, Prenatal, Spazio Sei Fashion Group, Technogym, Vertime, Wireitalia, Zenmarket and some more. Several of the participants concluded that with the new eMall of China Unionpay, there is finally a promising alternative to the current C2C dominated market in China. New cost effective services to drive traffic in China and cross-border online payments, drastically increase prospects to increase sales to the booming online consumer market in China.

Atos Worldline, Intertek France and Chinova host  Chinese Market eCommerce Seminar in Paris 12 May

Summary of the Seminar

The Seminar was arranged by Atos Worldline, the number one European PSP with 30.000 Merchants and €20 billion in transaction volume, and Intertek, the worldwide leader in product certifications. Merchants connected to Atos payment platform, SIPS, can use Chinese Bank Card services with China Unionpay from Chinova. This means that well known French brands get access to a formidable online reach of 700 million unique Chinese card holders.

Mr. Jean-François Roche, Director of Business Development in Asia at Atos Worldline was the moderator and together with Intertek had invited their clients in France interested in increasing online sales to Chinese consumers. The purpose of the seminar was to explain the value for merchants with the joint offer of Atos, Intertek and Chinova. Merchants now get the key building blocks, for a secure in-road, to selling online to Chinese consumers. The key message was that China is not further away than Italy, UK or Germany when using these new services to cost effectively secure product compliance, drive traffic,  make online payments and drastically increase sales in the booming online consumer market in China.

It was a well-received seminar with participants from Sarenza, €40M sales of shoes and accessories, WineSize, sales of French Vintage wines, Toys’r’us, €780M sales 2010 and Carrefour with 8,700 stores worldwide. Also there, were BNP Paribas and Societe General, two major French banks with a large Merchant client base, as well as UbiFrance, the partly government funded worldwide organization supporting French export companies. It was a great opportunity for the sales and marketing people of these organizations to meet and plan for the next steps and joint activities.

Peoples Bank of China, Ministry of Industry & Information Technology, China Unionpay and Chinova started up this year’s 3 day seminar of Payment Trends China 2011 in Shanghai.

Summary of Day 1 of the seminar – ‘Payment Trends China 2011’

The seminar was arranged by the Chinese private organizer Unicorn, the 9-11 March in Shanghai. With 200 delegates, over 40 participating companies in E-payments, Mobile payments, numerous international and domestic Banks and Telecom operators, and with distinguished government and industry speakers, the seminar gives a valuable insight in the world’s largest online payment market.

Chinova Asia Development, CEO Karl Alberts delivers a keynote speech on Cross-border Ecommerce and online payments, discussing lessons, drivers and challenges from Europe and predicting Chinese cross-border will show rapid growth and reach European levels of around 10%.

Several participants could conclude that this year the key focus of the seminar was different aspects of mobile payments where innovations of new payment systems, contactless payments, security as well as regulatory issues such as open value chain business models where discussed.
